Wilderness Youth Leadership Development

All participants will begin the WYLD experience with the Community and Team-Building model, which is an immersion into the Adventure group process and exploration of Adventure Basics.  Participants will learn to understand their own leadership styles, how teams work, and how a group can perform more effectively.

THIS PROGRAM WILL ALLOW STUDENTS TO:

• Build on the basics of adventure programming

• Identify and develop one’s own leadership

• Deepen their awareness of accountability and responsibility

This model focuses on training young people to serve as leaders in both the facilitation and processing of activities and dialogue with their peers, younger children and adults. The next step will be for students to use their new found skills to empower their peers to lead and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The culminating experience for this course will be participating in a self designed service learning projection the participants own community.
